Emma Holdernesse B.Ed, Cert S.E.N. Autism teacher

Emma has creatively developed her own method of working through music and the arts through a diverse 30-year professional career working as a Teacher of Music, SEN and Autism, as well as developing a reputation as a Freelance Creative artist and musician. She enjoys all things creative and artistic and has an uncanny gift of being able to use these skills to connect profoundly with her clients.

Her career has included work in Shetland, Orkney, Highland and Moray Councils as a mainstream classroom Music Teacher and in Special Education Departments as an SEN and Autism Teacher. She has also worked with Scottish Booktrust, Drake Music, Youth Music Initiative, Dementia Friendly Orkney and Scottish Ballet in their Dance for Parkinsons Project.

 

She is happy working with people of any age or ability and is flexible and fun.  Her private students have gone on to study at the Royal Consevatoire, St. Mary's School of music in Edinburgh and Guild Hall in London. She has enjoyed over the years working with Scottish Booktrust with babies to 6th year students preparing for university audition.

 

Emma also has a specialism in communication through the voice, especially with people with additional support needs and has worked on projects with Drake Music, Glasgow.

Don Holdernesse B.A (Music)

Don is an award winning multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, teacher and music producer who's career has spanned 35 years. He started teaching in specialist music centres in Australia after having studied 18 different instruments at University and quickly became known as a versatile singer and multi-instrumentalist able to play almost any style of music from classical, Jazz and blues to folk, art music and world music.

Don is proficient at teaching an array of instruments and has a broad knowledge of musical styles to cater for any students tastes. He is also able to pass on valuable performance skills to students drawn from years of performing as a professional musician.

​

Over the years Don has trained award winning audio engineers, successful professional musicians and even computer games music programmers. He has taught students from primary, secondary and tertiary settings in Moray , Highland and Orkney councils including UHI and YMI and has also worked with ASN students over more than 15 years.

His students have gone on to study music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Abertay University and Birmingham University.

Don also worked for many years as a music producer for major record companies and has a wide knowledge of recording, mixing and mastering techniques. He runs a music tech business called Galleri Audio.
